I've been busy getting ready for another show in London, which starts next week. This time it's for a licensing show. It's the first time I've attended this kind of show and it's a side of illustration that I've not delved into all that much yet. I think my work would lend itself to being licensed so I thought I'd pursue this avenue! I'm hoping to meet lots of potential licensors and generally learn more about the industry. I will post again afterwards and let you know how it goes!
Here is some of the work I am displaying on my stand (Jh1)
I never used to be much into cooking. I'm one of 5 and my sisters were always a lot better at it than me. But I've really come to enjoy it and I think it might be like gardening; something that you suddenly start to enjoy as you get older! (although I haven't got into the gardening thing as much yet..time will tell!)
Here's a recipe I drew in my sketchbook. It's about how to make flatbreads, which have got to be the easiest bread to make! So good if you find you've no bread in the house and have some yoghurt knocking about. Yum! Hope you like it! I might add some more, if you have any recipe suggestions, let me know!
So it's really hot today and I was thinking how I haven't been to the seaside for ages (well since Morocco in July...come on, that's AGES!) but there's nothing quite like an English beach experience and I have the urge to drive to the seaside, jump out my car, strip off and run into the sea, arms flailing wildly whilst screaming at the top of my voice...phew do i sound mad yet? Anyway, someone told me that the rain is coming and it's going to be cold so instead of running nakedly to the sea (I'm unfortunately about 2 hrs drive and I just don't have time) :0 I drew this illustration in the hope it might encourage some crazy souls to RUN! to the sea, in a naked manner! so GO!!!
Have you read my newsletter? You can read it here http://eepurl.com/btInSr and sign up on my site www.sarahray.co.uk if you want to get them in your mailbox. If you have read it, you will have seen that I'm having a BIG FLIPPIN' PRINT SALE! And I have a few new ones in like this rabbit one;
Hello! I've been busy drawing some new card designs to add to the range. I always love thinking up new ones, I hope you like them. If there's an occasion/theme that you think I should do then please make your suggestions in the comments, would love to hear from you!
My french friend asked me to draw her something for Bastille day that she could wear as a little badge. After some research online (I didn't know much about Bastille!) I discovered Marianne who is the French symbol of liberty. (Wahoo for historic strong women!)
Just have to make her into a badge now. Happy Bastille day!
Summer is coming up, when there will be lots of weddings happening..including mine! So I thought I'd share the invite I drew and had printed onto cards. We wanted something simple to match our laid-back and casual countryside wedding day, plus I love spots!
I drew our legs from a photo, which I don't normally do but it worked out super easy.If you're getting married and need some invites designed, take a look at some I did for Rosemary&Sam here. They are into scuba diving and wanted something sea themed!
Only a couple of days now until PULSE LONDON and I'm busy getting things ready. This morning, I spent some time writing up a press release. I haven't written too many of these so found CREATIVE BOOM's article on how to write one helpful. Attending a trade show isn't cheap, so you have to utilise all possibilities for promotion! I'm attaching one of my postcards to the release, (everyone loves a freebie) and it's not going to cost the bank. I'll snuggle them between all the others, in the press lounge on Sunday (the start of the show) and hopefully they will go some way in getting my stuff seen! I hope this is a little bit helpful if someone else is planning on writing one. (although don't take mine as the bees knees!)
I also stamped the top with my ink logo stamp just to make sure there's a bit of branding on view!
